R&D – GNT Aeronautics & space
Short range and medium range aircraft consume almost as much paraffin on the tarmac to move around as they do in flight. This, together with the rise in oil prices, means a significant cost premium.
A solution must be found to do away with the need for jet engines to move the aircraft, without modifying the aircraft itself for models already in production. (Plug & Play)
Solution retained: Motorise the wheels of the main landing gear to save fuel on short and medium-haul flights
Research, design, and dimensioning of a geared motor respecting the specifications, study of solutions, tests, and manufacture of a demonstrator.
The environment and extreme temperature differences must be taken into account, and it must be sized to withstand shocks of up to 20G. The mechanism must be powerful enough to move the aircraft, but also as light as possible since in-flight consumption is directly related to the load on board, and as small as possible in the space available.
CATIA V5
The project began in 2008, with the commissioning of such a system planned for 2016, initially on single-aisle aircraft. We will do our utmost to be part of the adventure until this commissioning through the different phases of the program.
